| Rosanna borrows the dainty detailing and plentiful use of curves from 18th-century French Rococo arts to create her modern-day Rococo Noir tableware. The collection's ornate teapot, sugar and creamer set, and pedestal cake stands are executed in sturdy stoneware and glazed a deep, shiny black that elegantly accessorizes several of her other patterns. For Christmas dining, Rococo Noir pairs perfectly with the new Rosanna Haute Holiday pattern, which features such silhouettes in black as Santa's sleigh and a reindeer on a red-and-white ground. Throughout the year, use the solid black Noir to accent Rosanna's decorative black-and-white Parisian Wallpaper collection. Black adds drama to any table setting. Measuring 12 inches in diameter, this cake stand is the largest of the three in the collection. The petal-shaped rim, repeated in the pedestal base, rises gently to beautifully present an eight- or nine-inch layer cake or keep a stack of chocolate chip cookies from sliding off. The two smaller cake stands may be stacked with this one to create a three-tiered buffet centerpiece with a strong wow factor. After the last crumb is gone, the pedestal cake platter can be placed in the dishwasher, although because of its shape hand-washing may be the better bet. | I was delighted to receive this cake stand. I admit I hesitated. I was not certain what I would do with a black cake stand, but any reservations I had were immediately dismissed upon opening the shipping box. The presentation gift-quality box was elegant and rich looking - hat box shaped with a black bottom and gold fleur-de-lis top. The stand itself was snuggly inside. After viewing, I had no doubt that I would keep this stand. I originally ordered it to display dessert items for Halloween (strictly because it was colored black); but have now decided it would be exceptional for any decorating scheme that requires elevation. I had never ordered any serving ware colored black prior to this. Why did I wait so long? This stand is a strikingly classy, shiny black. I understand there are two smaller companion pieces for multi-level stacking. I purchased this 12" base piece first, but have my eye on ordering the additional sizes. |
